You look at what's been spent on both squads, as it stands we've got the higher value squad. We both go into the season with a year of Premier League experience behind us following many years away (admittedly we've had that Championship season in between).
Sure, you can make the argument that they're in Europe and had an unbelievable season last year, but you've got to say that they over achieved really.
Call me naive, but with one or two more signings, I think we can genuinely expect to go into that game as two fairly evenly matched teams. |  |

Sunderland finished 7th last season and Forest finished in 16th on 44 points. The season before Forest finished 7th.
We should not assume Sunderland will be the same quality this year, we should be aiming for 3 points. |
Need to win 10 games to stay up and you'd assume that the home games against the worst other 6 teams in the division are our best chance to get some of them.
Per the bookies current odds (in order) that's:
Hull
Coventry
SUNDERLAND
Fulham
Leeds
Crystal Palace

Of course we're aiming for 3 points, but in general people are expecting the European tour to hamper their progress this season.
That won't be relevant on 22 August.

Xhaka is such a big player for them, he does everything well, strong, great passer, but also a huge goal threat from anywhere, something our two midfielders won't have.
Player for player we're pretty evenly matched in most areas, but in a couple of real key areas, they're edging it (Xhaka, Sidiki - one genuinely class, the other probably as good as we have but way quicker) then Brobbey I think will give Diop and Greaves or whoever a proper battle.
Not sure we've got quite enough about us to return the favour.
Hoping home advantage is the leveller and a bit of luck and a fair wind is floating about somewhere, then a win and confidence will creep in lol! |  | | |

I think it would be a good idea to wait and see, first clues arriving in 10 days time. Whether it was a flash in the pan last season or not, one thing I am sure about, you don't get to 7th in the PL by being poor. |  | | |

Sunderland only had a good season last time, based on the oxygen of a really good start. We need the same.
