Yes, it's only one result and things may look very different in a few months time but having witnessed Saturday live and watching town in 5 there's just so much to love about this team.
Enciso just wow instantly became my new favourite after Burns departure. Fatawu loved that he goes to the byline and crosses. Maeda just doesn't stop and got some great blocks in. Lukic just looks effortless, Emmerson did much better than I anticipated, Scherpen bar one dodgy moment with his feet made a great save and the older boys Nunez was great and Leif and Greaves were immense and of course JC being JC.
No disrespect to last years team but they were a tough watch at times but will always be forever grateful to them for the double over that lot and getting it over the line. |  |

Removing Leicester and Sheffield United off my list, right!
Like I said it doesn't matter now of course, but the summer has obviously had an impact on peoples memories. We had a squad filled with incredible talent at that level in a very mediocre league, yet we just scraped into second and a big reason for that was us not turning up in almost half the away games. |
We did not scrape second or anything else. In a 46 game season (or to count Blackburn away twice as you did to help your point 47) we finished ahead of all bar Coventry. There’s no luck in that.
I see you chose the bottom eight to help your point (2 wins 3 draws 3 losses). Might have looked a bit shaky if you’d chosen the eight clubs in the top nine (4 2 2), which included wins at two of the top six and the first beating of that lot at the Carrow Rd hovel in decades.
We did turn up in all the games. There were some that were never going to work out like Oxford despite dominating, some poor performances and a sprinkling where the opposition played well like Sheffield U, Leicester and especially Middlesbrough. If we lost it was not for the want of trying.
The previous promotion side lost six games. Some of those were bad losses, especially Leeds and WBA. And Norwich. It happens.

Well we scraped the League Championship in 1962. Burnley lost form in the last few games.
Promotion in 2023 and 2024? Scraped. Wednesday then Leeds lost games they should have won. Burleys team? Scraped promotion in the play offs.
Any promotion is hard fought and earned. There was no divine right to have it ‘done and dusted’ by April. Other teams are entitled to compete unless you feel we are entitled to always win.
A poor start cost us and made it more difficult. A new team made it more difficult too as did teams setting up to stop us - something most didn’t do last time.
You chose the bottom eight to make your point. In other words stats to paint the best possible picture of your negative assessment. You have said essentially that the team didn’t want it enough/didn’t try in some games. It’s about the worst thing you can ever accuse players or a team of.

Doubled Norwich, took 12 points from the two teams we were promoted with, Philogene scoring goal of the season contenders most weeks, McKenna trying to learn lessons from 2024/25 by introducing some pragmatism, Nunez moving from Norwich and turning himself into one of the great ITFC cheerleaders. O’Shea leading from the front, Clarke turning into Matthew Le Tissier from the penalty spot, fate giving Christian Walton a chance to enjoy the Championship season he should have had in 2023/24.

It’s just bizarre how some people felt last season was a hard watch. I guess they expected 100 points, 100 goals.
It was a huge achievement. Just look how West Ham and Burnley have started this season. The champ is hard. To get out twice in 2 seasons is incredible. I enjoyed every moment of it. It always going to be a different brand of football to the previous promotion. A double over Norwich is almost enough on its own. Teams didn’t make it easy for us but we did what we needed to and I can’t say at any point did I not have faith that we would do it. |  |

A new midfield general in Matusiwa, Leif being Leif, Taylor finally getting the run and having the impact he’s waited a long time for. Wes coming back from injury and looking like his old self.
Yep, plenty of reasons to create those special links with us fans. The football was turgid at times, yet there were still plenty of individual successes.
Besides, people may be getting ahead of themselves about this season. |  |
