Why are we subtracting minor injuries again? Isn’t that a thing some footballers are more prone to. And causes them to miss lots of games?

Slightly misleading there - I believe you’re potentially adding cup appearances to league appearances there? As factually, he has never played more than 25 league games in a season, in any country, in any division. |

I think the thing a few people are missing in this part of the thread is that, his injury record is precisely why we are able to sign a world cup winning, world class midfielder for just €22.5m guaranteed.
At the very same time as watching relatively unproven players moving on elsewhere for fees in excess of €40m
If we can keep him fit, as we have managed to do with a number of players over the last 5 years then its a risk worth taking. |  |

Personally I'd say the overall volume of competitive games is more relevant than just league matches. Without knowing how his teams were rotating, how seriously they were taking cup games etc it's difficult to judge how relevant the 'league' aspect is.
The fact that fairly recently he was available for 38 games in a season in all comps is relevant.
E.g Take the 24/25 season where he 'only' played in 24 league matches. He also played in 10 Champions League fixtures with 8 of those being a starter. [Post edited 26 Aug 20:57]

I can’t remember if it was this post or another, but I presented the league games played alongside the injuries he’s had and number of games missed as a result - was pretty conclusive…
Of course, it’s whatever - a player of his quality wouldn’t be joining Ipswich Town if it wasn’t for this potential fragility - maybe we have a plan to manage and/or remedy! | | | |

He’ll get plenty of rotation here, he won’t play in either cup you’d imagine. So it’s only 37 games anyway and he’ll either play an hour or thirty minutes each time. It’s not worth worrying about. |  |
