I see that Ben-Gvir is now calling out government antisemitic and also that the Falklands are Argentinian under our occupation after we violently stole them from the Argentinian people.
It also looks like Miliband is about to change our relationship with Israel and announce new sanctions today. Better late than never. |
Those opposing the sanctions that the UK are expected to announce soon say that it will put British lives in danger, as we have a close military/security relationship with Israel that helps keep us safe, and that will no longer happen.
In other words, if we want to keep ourselves safe, we need to let them carry on killing Palestinians.
There's no real hope for that region, is there? If it's true that Israelis want to see every Palestinian man, woman and child killed, you can bet that you'll get the same answer from Palestinians re Israelis. |  |

I would think that the real problem isn't Israel and whether we are allies with them or not. It's the United States. They have real power to hurt us if we piss them off over Israel. I wouldn't be surprised if that prevents UK gov from going as far as it might want to when it comes to sanctions and rhetoric. If I was PM, or foreign sec, or chancellor, even if I really wanted to give Israel a slap down, I'd be considering if it is worth it in the face of US blowback. Sad pragmatic reality of international relations, and who has the real power. |  |

I would think that the real problem isn't Israel and whether we are allies with them or not. It's the United States. They have real power to hurt us if we piss them off over Israel. That is the line that Tom Tugendhat, the shadow Foreign Secretary, has taken but a former Defence Secretary, Malcolm Rifkind, who is Jewish, said on the World Service last night that Israel in far more dependent on us for security and intelligence than we are on them.
Another thing to bear in mind is that it was said on the World Service today that 11 other countries are to follow suit with corresponding sanctions. And this follows on from co-ordinated sanctions in 2025 on Israeli ministers, and co-ordinated sanctions in June, in connection with the West Bank.

It’s certainly called for.
Netanyahu is a Nazi and his government are committing genocide in Gaza and daily acts of terrorism in the disputed territories by forcibly removing Palestinians and building illegal settlements,
You can either support all of these things or do something about it.
I applaud our government for taking a first step along with a number of others to try to do something about it.
I hate the Israeli government, I also hate Hamas and what happened on 7 October.
