First half nowhere near them, second half with some composure we could maybe should have taken one chance and then who knows. Liverpool eased off but they had to, first 20 minutes they they were running around like madmen, but brilliantly as well of course. |  | | |

I can't agree.
Our passing throughout the game was poor. We never really got hold of the ball and the few shots we had were pretty weak.
Liverpool clearly backed off, especially in the second half. you feel if they needed to get more goals they could have.
If they had gone full throttle all game it probably would have been 4 or 5.

14 shots, 5 on target and 16 touches in their box. We might not have had them on the ropes but saying we got nowhere near them is just being negative for the sake of it.

The top teams often hit 4 + goals vs the lesser teams. Liverpool did not stop trying to score goals.
Isak would have wanted a Hat-Trick - he had zero more shots after his goals.
I’m not saying we played amazing but we played much better than some are making out.

Absolutely.
I knew we’d get variations of the time-honoured and pathetic narrative spewed out that we kept them out for 82 mins…take away the first 8 minutes, we matched them etc etc.
We were woefully unprepared and completely overrun for those opening minutes and could easily have been 4 down at half time.
Liverpool comfortably managed the last 80 mins of the game and there were precious few positives for us to take out of it.
Defence was a shambles 2nd half at Man Utd and the same problems were allowed to start the game tonight..with the same, utterly predictable outcome. [Post edited 4 Sep 23:26]
