I generally enjoy Sutton, in the way that you enjoy a village idiot/court jester figure. I’ve always liked the way he’ll generally call BS on things rather than fall back on old pro omerta, and I’ve
long reconciled myself to the fact that when he makes his weekly predictions, he’ll never back us to win. But this comment about today’s game is bizarre:
“This feels like an important game for Ipswich after two successive defeats but I don't know why I am thinking they will get a point because that's not going to happen, is it?”
Is it really so inconceivable that we get something from a game against Crystal Palace? I know they’re an established Premier League club now, but if it’s really so unthinkable for a promoted club to go to Selhurst Park and get at least a point, then why are we even bothering with football as a sport outside the top 6?

Intelligent and articulate individual. Have to bear in mind that much of his radio work in particular has been around creating audience response and making people laugh.
He's a Premier League winner as a player and clearly has an informed knowledge of the game.
I find it strange that he generates so much antagonism just because he played down the road. Playing up to him pours fuel on the fire. |

but annoyingly he's got a valid point, Palace are a well drilled premier league side, the kind of level we aspire to get to, they dont flirt with relegation every season, theyre pretty solid and theyre not an easy team to play against.

I know he writes it to annoy town fans and lift spirit of Norwich fans. Unfortunately he has been proven right a lot recently. It's a valid call on todays game. Having watched palace they are a better side than us. Overall better players and way more prem experience. It is unlikely we will get anything from this game. | | | |

A certain section of our fanbase is always unhappy when anyone in the media says something that doesn’t seem complimentary. Whether is Sky, MOTD, Alan Shearer, Gary Neville, Chris Sutton, if they aren’t predicting a Town win, or that we’re staying up they’re immediately clueless pundits or trolls. Some tend to buy in too much into our own hype.
Realistically a draw would be good today but Palace are a decent side on their day, it’s going to be a tough game. |  |
