| Alot of opinions on players from last night 08:53 - Sep 16 with 1217 views | muccletonjoe | Very few are the same. Whichever way you saw it , i am sure we are in agreement that whoever played, we are light years behind Arsenal, we actually got taken apart by one of their 16 year olds last night. The panache in that team was quite incredible and they will take some beating in the years to come. Also bodes well for future England teams if the continue on that trajectory. We competed, which is not to say we were vastly outplayed, but the naivety in the opening 15 minutes of games is a concern. Very few of those who came in last night will give O'Neil selection headaches for Everton. Flemming , did ok in difficult circumstances. I think Clarke when he came on staked his claim on the left, particularly when paired with Davis. Other than that , it shows we will need to spend another £200 million next summer to replace our second eleven , providing we stay with it and have the funds to do so. | | | | |

Ouattara Flemming Billy Jean (in spells) If Mehmeti could work out when to keep and release the ball, I think he's a decent squad player for us as well. Furlong did OK as well. I said last night, it was an odd game. We actually looked OK going forward, albeit we had nothing to loose at two down. We just looked purous at the back. We gifted them two goals, one from some very poor midfield play and one from some suicidal 'playing out from the back'. I've said, all along, GON hasn't quite got the balance right, yet. As an attacking unit, we commit bodies forward and there is some really nice play at times, we can open teams up but the downside is we seem so vulnerable when teams come at us. It's never easy to balance the two. The positives, for me, were that we didn't stop, heads didn't drop and we were worth 2 goals. The final observation is the obvious credit to Arsenal. The way they play, in possession, out of possession and especially the transition is something else. As someone posted last night, we are not going to play them every week. So, let's not be too hard on ourselves.

| Alot of opinions on players from last night on 09:21 - Sep 16 with 1042 views | BloomBlue | It took Arteta 5 years to build that squad, and we're talking about a massive club like Arsenal, plus Arteta started with a squad who was already much higher than GON has started with. Yes we will need to spend again to but quality players like Eze, Merino aren't going to join Town to be basically 2nd team players. That's going to take years of success, qualifying for the CL before that would happen. Look at Sunderland, ok you cannot judge on one game, but against us they played O'Nien as CH, because they had an injury there and he was terrible, but he is their back up CH. So Sunderland we're told is the club approach we need to follow, even they have some drop offs. So we need to be sensible and understand we will always have a 'drop off' in standard, for a few years. This is why as fans we need to support all the players when that ref blows the whistle to start the game. Not the anti player comments within 2 mins of kickoff as happened last night. | | | |

Quite. The Arsenalholes aren’t our benchmark. That only comes with being one of the better clubs in the PL/Europe and having years at the top end. We’ve ‘just’ got to try and improve little by little. Improve the players we’ve got, improve our match performances as a team, slightly strengthen the squad in Jan if possible. Rinse and repeat. I hope it will enough. There are some really encouraging signs we could be ok and so think we will be, but it’s brutal and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us fall short either. A couple of key injuries and we’ll struggle.

| Alot of opinions on players from last night on 09:45 - Sep 16 with 952 views | TheGentlemanViking | There aren't many teams that can compete with Arsenal in terms of squad depth. Their starting 11 last night featured the world's most expensive GK, 3 England internationals, 2 Brazilian internationals, 2 Spanish World Cup winners, a FIFA Gerd Müller Trophy winning striker, and the most highly rated youngster in the PL. Most of whom have yet to really feature this season. Our team was a Championship squad, and many of them were our rotation options last season too. Huge mismatch, but most "2nd 11's" would struggle against that Arsenal team. | | | |

They have probably the greatest squad in club football currently, that said when Clark/Davis came on we gave them a much better game which was encouraging. As you say the first 15 mins are a concern, no getting away from that.
