Loving Burnham's visions and promises 14:55 - Sep 29 with 17160 viewsNthQldITFC

To paraphrase: "I may have to pay a political price, but I'm going to do these things that our country needs."

Cue the usual, fossilised cynicism from both sides of the spectrum, but I have a good feeling about this bloke.

It won't be possible to achieve everything, but I'd rather someone took a political risk and gave it a bloody good go - there's no point pissing around with an eye on five years time, we need some fundamental change based on all of us, first of all, providing a solid, social base, and developing responsibly from there where possible.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

The public are in favour of nationalisation of utilities to the tune of 75%

Some figures from May this year.

Trending upwards too, one would think, given ongoing failures of all or most of these.

Thatcherism out!

https://yougov.com/en-gb/artic

82% - 92% on Water
76% - 86 % on Railways
70% - 82 % on Electricity
76% - 86% on Royal Mail
67% - 79% on Buses

Interesting you typed in Royal Mail. I’ve just done a Victor Meldrew to the local MP about that shower.

The service here has basically collapsed. It’s a disgrace. We were away for two weeks and the only post delivered in that time was a day after we got home. People are being told there will be no second class delivery for the foreseeable. It’ll be dumped in a sorting office. Profit making parcels are priority.

RM is costly, totally unreliable and run into the ground. The staff they haven’t binned yet are demotivated (conversation with a golf acquaintance and the chap that delivered a parcel the other day)

A lot of medical info and other important stuff is delivered by RM. As is some correspondence. As exec to my brother in law’s will not all ot the stuff could be dealt with electronically. For people who are not IT literate they are being cut off.

This is a public ffing service and quite frankly, flogging it off had everything to do with ££ for the few and zippo for everyone else. Britain: the society that literally ate itself.

Apologies for the random rant.

Maybe people just don’t want to send you things .

Our service is fine and our local postie great. He’s long/timer and well known and liked about the village. It’ll be sad when that goes, which is looking increasingly likely. You do hear plenty of complains though. Bloody expensive for a stamp nowadays too.

Royal Mail seem to be getting more parcel delivery jobs these days which may help them; and they are infinitely better than the Herberts who turn up in unmarked cars and throw your parcel over your fence.

Poll: Escaped Goat of the day. Who’s it going to be?

There is a local meeting about it here. I am quite certain they are only delivering to me once a week. I get nothing for a week or two at a time, then curiously 3 or 4 things on the same day, bound with a rubber band...

Poll: Will the US Mid terms get cancelled or "postponed"?

Line one: yeah, you’re probably right. I wouldn’t want to send me anything!?
