Yes, we were truly abysmal last time around.

GON has more home wins in 3 games than we had for whole season last time which is astonishing.

If we can get something out of the Forest game and beat Hull we'd pretty much have a third of what we need to stay up with 3/4 of the season to go. A huge month ahead.

It also took 19 matches in the 2001/02 season to win three. Took eight matches in 2000/01.

I don’t like hearing comparisons to this being our best start to a PL season since 93/94. While we are two points behind after six matches, anyone old enough to remember won’t have enjoyed that season.

The ending to that season was horrendous and it was a miracle we didn't go down. Probably would have been better off getting relegated then we wouldn't have that awful result against ManU.

Was it Mark Stein who scored for Chelsea in the last minute which kept us up?

Yes, it was Mr Stein that bailed us out. Then we went down the pan the following season. We were awful that looking back I was amazed Burley managed to put a competitive team out in the Championship the following season.

The comparison of this team is really with what we saw two years ago. Then, it was men against boys just about every week bat Leicester for 70 mins. We just weren’t competitive. We are now. Ok, not against the top teams like Liverpool and probably MC next week, but against the lesser mortals even if we don’t win, like last week, we look likely to be in games.

We weren’t truly abysmal, especially at this stage of the season.

Maybe in the second half of the season, but the first half of the season we were competitive.

That's right, in a sense it was a season of two halves: the half when we couldn't win, and the half when we were truly abysmal! :)

That was 92/93 wasn’t it? We were decidedly mid table until mid season and then dropped, in 1993/94 we had sold Dozzel and were in the bottom bracket all season.

yes but that was that classic thing of back then when we'd start the season well, won first three games iirc, sort of kept it together up till Christmas, beat the budgies at PR :D and then just slumped horribly afterwards leading to that Blackburn game and that Mark Stein goal.

so yep not the season Id like this to be compared to, but it doesnt feel like it tbf, we had a very old squad back then and alot who werent very fit or quick or that skillful on the ball...but apart from that legends :D
