Does anybody know how long he is likely to be out for ?

I remember Beckham ruptured his achilles a few years back and that took 6 months after surgery.

Isn't Bishop currently wheelchaired with the same injury?

We won't know whether he'll need surgery or how long that will sideline him for until he has seen the specialist next Tuesday, but I doubt it's as serious as a rupture. Luke Varney ruptured his achilles in the play-off semi-final and he was very clearly in a great deal of pain. Huws's injury sounds more of a niggly problem as he was in line to play on Tuesday until Monday morning.

I can't imagine it is a "ruptured achilles" as it has always been described as a minor injury rather than anything more sinister

Though I would imagine that Surgery would put him out until January.

He had hernia surgery last week. Gilmore's groin, I believe.

I bet he's not happy.

Someone posted on here that Bishop was already up and walking/driving. Not sure how true that is.

Do we know how long Bishop & Chambers are out?

Apparently he has a 'sportsmans' hernia. He's probably looking at 6-12 weeks rehab after his operation. Hopefully we might be able to get him out on loan to a National League club for a month or so before January, so he can come back fit and firing for the second half of the season.
A fully fit Bishop offers us something completely different to rest of our midfield. Watched him twice last year in the reserves and he really is a terrific dribbler of the ball. Wouldn't surprise me if this injury will have been holding back for a while though, as it's a bit of a slow burner.

It won't be a rupture. That requires immediate surgery.

Depends how much tissue damage the surgeon found. If he is walking already that is a good sign.

May well be right re Bishop, not seen him around the training ground but I think it's a fairly routine operation. Mick didn't know how long when I asked on Monday but I would guess they'd take things fairly slowly with him anyway given his injury history.

[Corrected] Chambers was due to be out for a month, so another three weeks. He's on Life's a Pitch on Saturday so he'll presumably fill us in on his progress then.

8 weeks!? Jesus!! Thought he was only out for a month! Spence will be CB for the forseable future then!

Our injury luck this season is appalling! Makes our start all the more amazing in reality.

And it was appalling for the previous couple of years too. They need to review it, it's massively frustrating and is in real danger of damaging a good thing.

I think Woolfenden has shown enough in his 2 League Cup appearances to be worth a game.

At right back, for sure !

I think he still needs to gain more experience to be trusted in the heart of the defence.

I totally agree, something is not right with the way the players are training. Could be down to excessive training or too much emphasis on the weights in the gym...but that's just pure guess work from myself.

It also seems like we have tried to rush players back (probably due to our small squad) in recent years. In Bishop's case, i'd like to see us give him a proper rehab and then send him out on loan to a National League side for 1-2 months to build up his match fitness.
Seems like they are handling Hyam well though. Wise to give him 3 U23 fixtures before putting him anywhere near the first team.

I think he'd really benefit from a loan spell in League 1 or 2. But right now we need him as back up. He's clearly mobile enough to play RB from what I saw at Selhurst.

He certainly seems to have an excellent turn of pace. Strong lad for his age as well, like Fowler and Webber.
A loan spell would do them a world of good.

Didn't David Haye suffer the same injury when fighting Tony Bellew? He's back training now, but at least 6 months I would think.
