Trump is a foul creature.
When you have a foul creature in an election race with a monster, one of them will win.
There's something wrong with a democracy when only 58% of the electorate votes and 96% of those that vote do so to prevent someone from being their leader.
That tells you that little over 2% of the electorate are voting for someone's policies. [Post edited 12 Jan 2018 8:55]

I agree with you. US politics is so polarised, it wouldn’t matter who your candidate is, you vote for your party because voting for the other is a no-no.
However, my family in Virginia are staunch Republicans and for the first time they didn’t vote for the Republican candidate. However, they couldn’t allow ‘family traditions’ to allow them to vote Democrat. So they simply didn’t vote.
I’m sure that was repeated across the country too. Not voting for Trump, but couldn’t vote for the Democrat. | | | |

what about the bit in the poll that said that 47% of clinton's supporters were 'enthusiastic' about her?? the same probably applies to trump's supporters being 'enthusiastic' about him. there were probably others who were positive about their chosen candidate without being 'enthusiastic'.
