This 2011 tweet from JRM is a great find on 00:48 - Jan 17 with 1031 views | IPS_wich | I am about as pro-remain as you will come across and find JRM one of the most detestable persons out there, but... ...using that tweet now is to take it completely out of context. It was part of a theoretical debate where different options were explored and there was discussion of a two stage process. The fact remains, when Cameron launched this suicide attempt he went for a single referendum process and to push for a second referendum now will only undermine the global democratic foundations our country helped create. Let's just get it over with, strip of the band aid and hope that this self-inflicted wound is only a flesh wound that we can recover from in a couple of decades time (because in my view that's the best case scenario). | | | |
