Lucky we had V A Effing R there to kill the spontaneity and drama of that goal.

F*cking ref watching it about 20 times.

They should only get one replay max.

I don't think VAR should be there for pedantic decisions.

Pedantic? He was offside

Edit: unless you're talking about the handball?

Its pure pedantry.

You could re-watch and analyse about 100 moments in that match and give/change decisions.

The saddest thing is it has killed it for Spurs fans too.

Get a grip, VAR has got every decision correct so really no problem as this is what matters at the end of the day.

Don’t tell me we want incorrect decisions now after bloody years of moaning how wrong decisions is an injustice to teams !

You could do that yes, but it would be unnecessary. Only goals/sending offs should be considered. I know VAR is new and has had some teething problems but if it eliminates offside goals I only see it as a good thing. I think we'll have to agree to differ for now.

Is this Llorente's goal?

Interesting that from the angle behind it clearly hit his arm then his hip. But seemed as if the ref never got that view in the VAR but was being asked to decide whether it hit his arm.

Very strange.

Pronouns: He/Him

I never moaned about the drama and spontaneity of football. That's always been its biggest draw.

If you want AI football, stick to playing FIFA

I’m a fervent opponent of VAR. But it made that game, especially that last minute non-winner. Amazing drama.

One thing it definitely should not be used for is to award a goal originally flagged for offside as in the Liverpool game.

Like it or not VAR got both crucial decisions right there. It might take the spontaneity out of celebrating the goal, but the important thing is getting the decisions right on the pitch. If anything it added to the drama.

My understanding is that VAR is only there for clear and obvious mistakes.

If that really is the case, then marginal calls ought not to be overturned, surely? Even if they are wrong?

So if Ipswich lose the playoff final next season from a howler of a referee decision you'll just see it as part and parcel of the game? I find that hard to believe.
