The 2nd Bowditch goal is very underrated 08:03 - Mar 20 with 1567 viewsBluefish

the pass, the run, the control, the finish

So many glimpses of brilliance but his career here was stolen from him. Very pleased that he still went on to a good career but should have been at the top.

Always remember watching him score one against forest in front of Churchmans. Pretty sure we lost the game 2-1 but top class twist/turn and strike. Think it was one when David Johnson 2 was playing for forest.

Don't really see why he should have been at the top level. He carved out a decent pro career at what was almost certainly the right level. Technically very good but probably didn't have the pace & strength to get right o the top.

that is the saddest thing for me. Football should be about technique and players like Le Tissier being celebrated and appreciated. Instead the game does too much to celebrate size and pace. The beautiful game is now the simply the most competitive game.

He wasn't really a Joe Royle player. We were pretty direct under Joe and that didn't play to Bowditch's strengths at all. You either needed pace (Bent) or physicality (Kuqi) to really thrive in that side. Pablo did well but he had a bit of strength about him and a bit of needle and that enabled his quality to show.

Can't agree with this. Football is even more about technique now and it is absolutely cekebrated. Messi, Iniesta, De Bruyne. Praise is lavished on the. That is pure nostalgic thinking to say its moved away from technique. Le.Tis stood out as lots of big hardmen over footballers before.. I think the last decade has had the most technically gifted players ever. Prior to this and going back further the game In England was all about size and strength. The crazy gang epitomized this. You would never get a David Silva back then as he'd be broken in half.

Modern game of course has taken sports science, diet and training to next level so the top level is more athletic in terms if speed etc.

Le Tiss was class and would probably still play he was that good but lets not forget he was dropped for his fitness on more than one occassion even back then.

You can't put Bowditch in Matt Le Tissier league.

Poll: Genuine answers please on what you would choose next season!

I know someone who played with Le Tissier at Southampton, they we're in awe of what he could do with the ball.
