Going to convert garage into a summerhouse/tv room should I use carpet or laminate. Garage is detached so I’ll be walking though garden to get to it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Carpet will get filthy with mud dragged through so go for some sort of hard flooring.

Tile it - but if you want to be something of a pioneer, polished concrete is very popular in the usa - and can give you a marble like easy clean floor for very little outlay

Thank you for advice won’t be doing it myself but it’s something to talk to my builder about.

Have you condidered the newer soft linos which are available? Less noisy and hard than laminate, doesn't get grubby like carpet. Warmer, softer texture on the feet than old-style lino.

You can even get wood-pattern one which look a lot like laminate.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

If you use laminate, make sure the subfloor is flat before laying.

And use a decent thickness underlay.

I did something similar with an outside structure.

The estate agent, or b@stard as I called him afterwards, was not very complimentary to my work and ideas.

He said it added absolutely nothing to the value of the house and I had wasted his time.

I'll add a photo for you

This is just the outside, I carpeted the inside, put in some lighting (battery powered fairy lights). It's not really big enough for a TV, and there is no power source. But it's a lovely space.

Hello, I wouldn’t contact your builder but instead a good quality flooring company. Personally I would go for a hard wearing Lino/vinyl floor (Rhino floor/ Kardean type as two examples but there are plenty of manufacturers out there) which you can get in some nice wood patterns. You would also need a self levelled latex floor laid before Lino/vinyl but the flooring company would also do this.
