I often wonder just how they managed to escape the BBC censors pen (unless Mrs Trellis of North Wales had a hand in it)

Im sorry I haven't a clue on 15:20 - Jun 16 with 1860 views | factual_blue | Haven't listened for years. I still recall the Piccadilly* Redevelopment Scheme Blues from about 1972. 'Woke up this morning Thinking 'bout the Piccadilly Redevelopment Scheme Looked out my window Eros was nowhere to be seen But that ain't surprising I live in Gretna Green *Piccadilly London. For about ten years there was a daft scheme to have an elevated roadway or something circling Piccadilly. It was finally rejected by the tories, not on aesthetic grounds, but because it didn't allow for a large enough increase in traffic.

Having Jimi Hendrix choking 'On his own Vimto' and Samantha dealing with 'Chalkey White & Curley Smith' is just wonderful listening. I expect that before long somebody from the BBC PC police will remove things like 'The Goons' & 'Round The Horne'.

Samantha has to nip out to take her german shepherd to the park to give him a stroke, while he licks her face and pants..

That is my very favourite Samantha. I had my post lined up, but I see that you got in there before me. I've just got back from the old, dusty, candle-lit BBC archive, where the elderly archivist blows the dust and wax off whilst Samantha climbs the ladder to the top shelf.

That does not correspond with my experience of the archives at the BBC, which I visited on a guided tour shortly before the present difficulties. I would have to say that I found the entire experience highly stimulating, the detailed explanation of the reference system particularly fascinating, and the building itself very clean and well-maintained.

Apologies Alan. I may have been thinking of the archive at the Manchester Guardian.

I've only just seen this thread and its title, I thought it was going to be the first progress report on the Battenberg public relations campaign.

Phil won't allow it. I've always rated Phil as a man of wisdom and good taste.

Sympathy for the Hamvil... No, I have commissioned the project and it is up to me to allow it. The progress reports, the setting of milestones, the reports on milestones missed, the press announcements on why Battenberg has the best ingredients and greatest taste in this league and the bottom place is just a blip - all of those things are Keno's job. I will however make a statement from my hidden lair underground in my private island fortress in due course. This will take the form of fourteen enigmatic sentences so as to allow Phil to spin a daily story out of each of them over a two week period.

Battenberg is an abomination, as well as a real & present danger to eyeballs everywhere. Why the BBC doesn't show Battenberg presence indicators, along with those for UV & pollen, so that people could at least whip their shades outa their pockets & protect their eyesight from the blinding clash of bright pink and yellow, lord knows
