Is it to much to ask for a player like Stewart to lead our front line again 19:16 - Oct 29 with 847 viewscarlisleaway

He was class and the majority of his goals were contenders for goal of the season.
We were spoilt with the 2000 team, cannot see those days coming back.

We picked Stewart up when we were on the up

That was a big coup at the time, it would be the equivalent of poaching a top striker from a rival for big money. That simply isn't going to happen under Evans.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Agreed, we just dont have the £500k it would take to sign a Lincoln striker

As Sheepy said, it was incredible/baffling that Huddersfield sold him to us

Probably, he’s not getting any younger .

Murph was ok for a bit, but we certainly hit the jackpot with Marcus. And he with us. He was a one season wonder at that level, not that I’m complaining.

There is a back story full of the word "alleged" in this transfer as told to me by town fans who lived in South Yorkshire at the time.

Given the improbability of one promotion rival selling their star striker to another

uberima fides

Didn't we pay around £2.5m for Stewart? Even back then it was a very decent fee, nevertheless money well spent.

then sang to their fans after he scored for us, vs them

"thank you very much for Marcus stewart,
thank you very much, thank you very very very much"

that was from a quality street advert at the time I think!!

town fans were quality with songs back then

We’ll be good again... one day
