Covid reminder - ventilation 17:04 - Jan 6 with 976 viewsSteve_M

This article asks a good question: why has so little of the public health messaging focussed on aerosol transmission and thus the need for ventilation?

Spot on. One of the key groups to get vaccinated at [redacted] are the porters - group of people who cover the whole building and spend a lot of their time in places like lifts, with some very sick people.

I often think this in the supermarket (which is why I'm keen to avoid them) effectively just a big petri dish of hundreds of people's breath a day in vast indoor spaces.

They're not good. Once they are shut to the public, they are then full of staff refreshing the shelves and teams doing the picking for deliveries. All sharing very small staff communal areas. Very little opportunity to get any new air in.

Step brother is a porter at Ipswich, they are employed by a private company, he's had no word from them... Oh and he is in 4 or 5 different at risk groups.

He gets really angry about the deniers and the face mask resisters. He wants to walk them thru a covid ward no ppe and see if their attitudes change.

Bump for this as it's important for people to be aware of it.

It would be interesting to know if there have been a disproportionate number of cases affecting supermarket staff who have to work in this environment every day. I think Hancock alluded to this early on in the pandemic but was later found to be distorting the truth ( as usual ).
