Unfortunate timing for Cook 18:12 - Mar 27 with 576 viewschrismakin

Came in after a run of 3 complete random wins in a season that's offered nothing since before Xmas

A side who have nearly scored more set piece goals than open play efforts.. ( I cant remember the figure exactly but heard recently something like 12 of ours goals in 20 have been set plays or something similar) and walks into a massive squad with no transfer window to make difference. High expectations despite a season that's shown nothing but frustration with the squad.

Wed have been better off hiring him behind the scenes and letting gill see it through.

Already theres illfeeling towards the manager for something which in my opinion he cant do anything about.

Indeed. Town are just as bad under Cook as we were under Lambert, although that's not really Cook's fault. The season can't end soon enough, so that Cook can get rid of the dead wood (or forest), bring in a few players & make a team out of those & the players he wants to keep.

I think the fact we have been desperately waiting for a full training week and then to see our players struggle to get through it just shows what a shambles we actually have as a squad of professional footballers.

Every player should have been busting a gut this week desperate to make the most of a full week of training.

Let's look at the bigger picture. PC might have come in at exactly the right time. He's got time to assess these players and there's so many that have their contracts up in the summer he can see for himself whether they are up to the job or not. Also, I don't buy it we won those 3 games under Gill, so we should've stuck with him. Let's not forget they were a bloody struggle, no scintillating football and we got lucky in those games, scoring at key times. The fact we won 3 consecutive games generally clouds people's judgements. Not much has changed from then, to now if we are being honest with ourselves. We're still making an easy game like football, look extremely difficult.

I agree with everything you've just written.

My op. Is more of how I just feel sorry for the timing of his appointment for him and how theres a fan base out there who are literally basing each game as a new season under a new manager and moaning that hes not winning games.

I doubt after all that coasting at a club that’s a byword for mediocrity ‘busting a gut’ is a concept our on the beach rabble understand. Maybe it’s part of the problem.

It was good timing to come in as the club was on the up and playing the best it had done in a year. Now after a few weeks of Cook the players look destroyed and are playing the worse they have done since Paul Hurst was here to be frank. In fact Paul Cook is coming across more Hurstian with every passing week. Hurst only managed to get 1 win also.

Were we on the up? Really?

We have 3 good wins on paper, but not necessarily good performances - I don't think that then meant we were on the up.

We had times under Lambert that we gained ground on the play-offs, and then fell away again, in a repetitive cycle.

That cycle is currently continuing, mainly due to the fact that we still have the same players that failed under PL.
