Just watched the highlights back 01:10 - Apr 3 with 1636 views | acj | Cannot understand how the first goal was credited as an own goal - looks like it was going in off of Gwion’s block on the attempted clearance before their defender got his foot to it, and then that diverted it from going in directly to hitting the post and crossing the line. Proper Sunday league goal either way haha!

Just watched the highlights back on 12:20 - Apr 3 with 1348 views | Leithblue | ifollow froze, for the first of many times, with the ball in the air giving me 30 seconds trying to work out if it was going in or not. Actually that was the high point of the entire 90 minutes
Just watched the highlights back on 12:25 - Apr 3 with 1341 views | Nthsuffolkblue | If the defender had not stuck his foot out, it was a comfortable stop for the keeper. It wasn't even a shot from Edwards anyway so he certainly doesn't deserve the goal. Both goals were a comedy of errors that ended with it going in. Nice to see luck favouring us but the only pretty bit out of both of them was Judge's actual finish at the second attempt. [Post edited 3 Apr 2021 12:25]

Just watched the highlights back on 12:26 - Apr 3 with 1333 views | chrismakin | all 3 goals had league 1 all over them didn't it 1st - well enough said 2nd, shot going off target, hits judge, blocked shot, score rebound 3rd, midfielder gives ball away 25 yards from goal, player clips ball over flat footed keeper ( watching that goal again, i've still no idea how Holy has been beaten with that, at first I thought great goal, but when watching it again, it barely leaves the floor, especially over a 6ft plus keeper.

I agree that their keeper was comfortably about to save it without the touch, but that is also the case with a lot of deflected goals which aren’t then given as an OG. I’ve always thought it was the attacking player’s goal if their touch was heading on target.

3 great examples of league one at its best! How on earth have we been so average in this league for so long?! On that third goal I had that thought too, but I think maybe the angle is just a bit deceptive given how high the ball still is when it hits the net. Might be a bit unfair on the goalscorer to put that down as anything other than an excellent finish. Of course, the mistake before that was criminal, but hopefully it’s one Andre learns from, and thankfully it didn’t cost us any points yesterday.

I get what you are saying. I am not certain the rebound from Edwards was goal bound and my point is he didn't really deserve it anyway. I also watched the highlights back and can't understand why Holy didn't get to their goal. He didn't try which suggests he knew he couldn't reach it so perhaps it was more to one side of him than the camera angle allows us to see.

I feel that is a little unfair - Edwards tracked the ball quite well, and we've seen a lack of guile in the box from our team many times. The fact he was ready to attack the ball and not watch what the others were doing and hanging back was very appreciated - regardless of whether his name was on the score sheet or not.

Yeah I totally see your point too, he hasn’t had a shot or done anything there that you’d say was ‘attacking play’, so to speak. I’d disagree though about him not deserving it, as if he doesn’t put that challenge in, the the ball doesn’t go in the net. In fact I’d probably look at it the other way - the defender doesn’t deserve it going against him as an OG, as I think he’s made an attempt to divert a goalbound ball away and it’s gone in anyway (he wasn’t to know the keeper was there to save it as it’s come at him so quickly). Maybe that’s just because I played as a defender when I was younger though! Of course, I know it’s all a moot point - it was 1-0 and that’s what really matters. Also a good point on the third goal, and if that’s the case then my first thought would be to question Holy’s positioning, but then he may have moved out of position to try to show for the ball for Dozzell - one of the problems with watching on ifollow is that you have such a limited view of the pitch and you just can’t see.

Fair comment. Certainly Edwards had a better game than he has done for a while now.

I don't blame Holy for that goal, it looked a good finish to me and he's been totally turkeyed by Dozzell Based on the general quality of League One, you probably don't expect a League One player to finish the ball as cooly as that either Both our goals were comedically bad, it's the sort of catastrophe we'd have managed in our relegation season or at Jewell when we nearing the end

Yeah you’re right there, I was not expecting such a well measured finish even if we had presented the lad with a golden opportunity - says a lot about league one that when he hit it I was half expecting it to just float harmlessly past the post haha.

I always find it amazing how we can be awful in games, give the opposition a few chances and they are completely wasted, either by blazing a shot harmlessly wide, missing guilt edged chances or delaying an attack which initially started promisingly Keanan Bennetts is a classic example really, the amount of times he does something almost brilliant before then completely wasting any advantage he had, is staggering [Post edited 4 Apr 2021 1:00]

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a player get in to such great positions and then overhit his cross so consistently, it’s almost a talent in itself!

So bloody annoying when it buffers for about 20 seconds and you got no idea what is happening , yes i think it is a goal for Edwards too .
