I wonder what would have happened if he’d come here rather than Appalling Wurst

True but they were probably in a bigger mess than we were at the time

He finished 4th and lost in PO Final after getting 85 odd points whixh would get you automatic most years, and got to EFL Trophy final....hardly a disaster

We ere a boring mid table championship team with fairly settled squad but no money

They’d had two relegations players still on prem contracts and I seem to remember were on the brink of and a messy takeover

The trouble is Evans. There’s a limit to how well anyone here could have done with his dead hand at the tiller. I suspect he would have done better than Hurst or PL, but I still think we’d be in the same mess and same division now. Ross didn’t tear up any trees at Sunderland and I know from my Mackem supporting buddy, they thought him out of his depth.

It’s done now. Good luck to the bloke. Let’s hope Cook is the right manager at the right time going forward.

He may not have been the answer, but one can't help but feel he'd have done a much better job than Hurst did.
