Howya all 16:52 - May 20 with 2979 views | EricGatespaperboy | Firstly a thank you! . As a long time reader of all ITFC pages over the years from various different parts of Europe , TWTD / Green un and Tractor boys ( less so in recent years ) forums have always kept me up to date with what was really going on with and more importantly feelings about the club I was lucky enough to have supported during the Bobby years . So today of all days I decided to stop being a dirty voyeur and actually come and say hi . Now for the important bit , Fave cheese! Parmigiano Reggiano when it’s paired with pasta , Blue cheese melted over steak, Mature cheddar on toast and Pure fave for munching on -Wensleydale with Cranberries. Here’s hopefully to a new generation getting to share the emotion , joy and pure euphoria that us from a blessed time ( in football terms ) got to experience week in week out . Plagiarising a line from a movie : 40 years , doesn’t it go by in a blink !

Thanks for the welcome . They really were blue tinted times at times but there was a moment of magic when the whole of Europe knew who we were and looked forward to our visits as true supporters of the beautiful game and to pit their wits against a team that was as the great man said himself , the perfect Jigsaw .

Why can you have cheese with pineapple, apple or grapes but not apricots in your cheese? I demand answers.

It’s not cheese with fruit. A slab of cheese with a few segments of an apple is a thing worthy of high praise. Likewise the 1970s hedgehog of pineapple and cheese on cocktail sticks. It’s fruit in the cheese that’s the crime. It’s just wrong and doesn’t taste right. I’d ban it and issue fines to those harbouring such sin. Why does pineapple and poached salmon work as a combo is the real burning question of the year.

That's what I meant. You and Jeera say having fruit with your cheese is fine. Why not apricots in your cheese? I should point out I only ever eat stilton with apricots at Christmas.

I'm not sure I've ever eaten pineapple with cheese apart from at weddings, where anything goes and the buffet's sole purpose is to soak up alcohol. I suppose it's nice with some cheeses but certainly not cheddar on sticks. Well it's usually dehydrated fruit isn't it. It's bits of unwanted dried stuff in cheese. Usually not very nice cheese, which is why some people mix these distractions in with it I guess? If you had a decent cheese, you're not going to shove bits of fruit in there. I love a chunk of fresh bread with cheese but I don't want it broken up and mixed in with it. I like a tea or coffee sometimes but I don't break up the cheese and biscuits and drop into my hot drink. Port doesn't count here of course and serves it own purpose.

Stilton is a wondrous thing. Never to be despoiled with fruit in it. It taints the cheese and the fruit doesn’t get any benefit either. It’s a bad thing. Having them alongside, fine. You can then enjoy them as god intended. As Jeera suggests, maybe it’s a way of flogging old sock manky cheese by bunging a bit of dried fruit in it and charging a premium.

I feel my midnight munches choice has not gone down well . I get that it’s blasphemy for most to tamper with the purity of cheese but ever since I gave up sugar the sweet joy I get from Wensleydale and cranberries is a very guilty pleasure . In my defence I smoked for 30 odd years so my palette may be lacking sophistication somewhat!

Well, despite your disappointing midnight munch, your first three are truly excellent choices. All good fun

A bit of self-flagellation and a few Hail Marys and you should be good to go. How long since giving up the smokes? Apparently the first 20 years are the hardest and then it eases up. I've been 10, maybe 11 years now.

Dec 2019 I quit, spent the next 4 months losing 30 kilos ( was 109kg at my rut living worse ). Covid changed my perspective on life so went on a wee bit of a mission , joined a gym ,got my soldier on and went to work . Lockdown 3 I put a bit back on so I’m happy to be back in the gym so the process continues but still have no urge to smoke which is a bonus as I do miss the smell but not the action.
Howya all on 00:38 - May 21 with 1995 views | itfctilidie | Welcome Actually I don't think I have ever declared my cheese preference as it goes. Crackers - Always go for the Stilton first, but like to have a Smoked cheddar on the board, and also some goats cheese to pair with some sun dried tomatoes. One of many guilty pleasures is some fried saganaki with some lemon.
