Putin's had Lukashenko's back in most things lately so, as Bloomer has already said, if Putin decides nothing is going to happen I suspect nothing will happen except for a few minor sanctions that everyone can live with.

Good opportunity for the EU to talk tough for a change. The reality is they can do little and also don't need to do much about a relatively small Russian satellite.

EU getting tough on Belarus? on 18:40 - May 25 with 679 views | Kievthegreat | There is currently a ruckus ongoing at the Ice Hockey World Championships underway in Latvia. The Mayor of Riga and the Latvian foreign minister have taken down the green and red Belarusian flag at the venue and replaced it with the red and white one used by protestors. The IIHF (equivalent of FIFA) have then said that the decision must be reversed or they want the official IIHF flag and the official tournament flag taken down. Well they responded by taking down the IIHF and tournament flags! The fact it is only in Latvia is also related to Belarus. It was original meant to be jointly hosted between Latvia and Belarus, but after several sponsors and then national teams threatened to withdraw, they dropped Belarus 'because of Covid'. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We have to make a point otherwise what’s to stop China forcing the flight from Singapore to Heathrow down as it flies over China as it has several Hong Kong Citizens wanted in China for campaigning against Winnie the Pooh? If they know all Chinese airlines will be banned from European and potentially US airspace they are left with very few places to go.
