Cancelled breaks... 12:06 - Jun 9 with 713 views | bluelagos | https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57410459 Just off the phone ref a ferry crossing from Harwich next week (That would be illegal to use ref current Dutch govt rules) - a ticket that I have moved 3 times. For the first time, they were happy to give me a credit note (a dummy crossing) rather than insisting I rebook, even though I have no idea when I'll be in a position to use it. Much better this time and now will be able to rebook if/when I think it safe and legal - rather than having to pick a date that may not work. Anyhow - point of the thread - hopefully the airlines / ferry companies will improve their refunds / credit notes. Surely this has to happen rather than people being refused refunds and some choosing to travel rather than losing their money?

Cancelled breaks... on 13:20 - Jun 9 with 569 views | Kropotkin123 | I took KLM through a chargeback. Took six months, as they contested. But they lost and were forced to refund me in full. When I was on the phone to them they said the "Dutch government" supported their position. To which I pointed out that the Dutch government is a stakeholder in KLM and they were going against UK and EU law, which is where the ticket was sold and KLM is required to conform to those regulations. They eventually hung up on me. The whole thing is utter nonsense, as they couldn't honour their original service. They seemed to be under the peculiar impression that their business was somehow more important than my personal finances, and should take priority. Baffling. [Post edited 9 Jun 2021 13:21]

Exactly! 10 minutes on the foot ferry or a 50 minute drive. Absolute no brainer.

Those fckers sank the ferry just to avoid honouring my last 2 crossings on a multi-buy ticket. Or it might have a storm.

Surely you could do both. Drive around from one to the other, get the ferry across and do it again. You could fill a day doing that.

Been fortunate not had any problems with refunds. In fact unwittingly made a profit on two occasions thanks to currency fluctuations. At one point last year even had to ask Barclaycard to refund to my bank account the several thousand I was in credit.
