I really want us to win on Sunday 12:11 - Jul 8 with 952 viewsVic

But you know what - it already feels like we’ve got a monkey off our collective back and at last just to have got to the final is almost enough. I really think this could just be the start of a new era for our national team. Southgate has changed the mentality, we have no primadonnas - heck, even our new talisman Grealish was subbed and there’s hardly a whisper about it!

Something is different and yes, I think we are more than capable of winning the final. But if we put in a performance like last last night and come up short I will not worry.

We should be well set for the WC next year.

I felt like that after the Germany game. Was really nervous beforehand and having never seen us beat them in a tournament my immediate thought afterwards was anything else was a bonus.

Then you start thinking that this team should have enough to beat the Danes. Now you start thinking maybe we're in a great position to win the final...

I said pretty much the same thing to my girlfriend after the game last night.

We have made steady progression in each tournament under Southgate and just for that reason I'm as satisfied as I've ever been as an England fan!

Italy will be another step up from the Danes though but as long as we don't get totally outplayed by them I for one will still have a smile on my face and will be extremely proud of the team.

Get pace going at, and in behind, the old Italian defends and we win this game.

I said 4-0 vs Scotland, 2-0 vs Germany, 2-1 lastnight... so not been miles off with predictions... and for final, I’m saying 3-1 England

We’ll be good again... one day

Exactly the same for me.
Finally winning a penalty shoot out and making it to another World Cup Semi-final were the two major ticks in 2018.
Finally knocking one of the traditional powerhouses out of a major tournament and finally winning a semi final are massive ticks in this one.
If we lose by the odd goal to Italy on Sunday I can live with it.

Its so refreshing how vibrant, confident and totally without ego this squad appears to be. However got to win it now, as a player you're better off losing in the semi final than the final imo. Different maybe for fans.

I thought we played well last night. I watched without any sound on, so I didn't hear what the pundits and commentators had to say. Were they a bit critical?
Is the general opinion that we didn't deserve it?

I haven't seen or heard any comments today, but I'm surprised that I'm now starting to get an impression that we were lucky or that we scraped through.

Nonsense.

Same here it’s progress to be recognised and there is a downside to winning in that we’ll never hear the end of the jingoistic nonsense mostly from hangers on who only watch football once a year.

Before we'd get a goal up and sh!T ourselves, we used to play so deep and so panicked. The last 20 minutes was always a siege.
Now we keep the tempo up and keep pushing, last night in the second half in extra-time we were playing keep-ball around the edge of their box.
So many times the manager and the players bottle it when it comes to tournaments, come in with some weird new tactic that they haven't used or doing stuff like putting Harry Kane on corner duty.
Southgate has a plan and he doesn't give a ***k what anybody thinks about it outside of his squad and staff thinks about it, which is exactly as it should be.
