Sone Aluko?! on 16:56 - Aug 6 with 1057 views | WeirdFishes | Definitely a strange one, a bit of a Mick McCarthy signing. Let's home it's a Noel Hunt and not an Ebanks-Blake.

Sone Aluko?! on 16:59 - Aug 6 with 984 views | Asa | On the face of it the strangest signing of the lot, but then when you drill into the detail it makes a lot of sense. This is a guy who, a few years back, cost £7.5m. We are in League One. A league where Gwion Edwards looked exceptional on occasion. Aluko can absolutely be a huge threat at this level. We have a very young squad now. This is a guy who has seen it all, played international football and by varying accounts is a fantastic character. He covers a couple of positions in Cook's system and worst case, is a decent player off the bench to impact games. Best case, he does so well he keeps someone else out of the team. We have made 7, 8, 9 signings of young players in a particular model first in order to hopefully have them grow with us and become decent Championship players. The last few gaps seem to be filled by the likes of Aluko (32), Jacobs (29), very experienced squad options who will be great at this level and a, presumably older, centre half who seems lined up for the captain role if we get whoever Cook's main target is. If this was the first signing it would have the hallmarks of the Evans era, but given the model we have and the smart business we have done, there is clearly a plan in place and Aluko is a carefully thought about signing, not a panicked squad filler. This is someone Cook sees as being a part of the plan, whether it's through direct involvement on the pitch or his experience around the rest of the squad. [Post edited 6 Aug 2021 17:00]

Yes I know, Reading released him. There was a reason he was playing in China!

Big, strong able to dominate the spaces a bit. We don't have it yet so will take on a free. Can't wait to play 6 forwards in a team | | | | Login to get fewer ads
