I would hazard a guess that it's because there isn't one, and it's a pathetic attempt to try and deflect from his spending the last twelve months sulking?

I think he could have made a real positive difference to us this season, but there it is. I never again want to see players here that don’t wish to be or are turning out to top up pensions or going through the motions as journeymen often do. I can live with poor performances, off days, mistakes etc providing the lads out there give their best for themselves, team mates and supporters. It’s not too much to ask

Totally agree with every word you have written there. Very sad that Downes had to finish with that snide comment. He can become a good solid championship player, who knows ows? Perhaps Premier League even. First though he needs to grow up and stop the sulking. It's shame the likes of Bishop, Dozzel & Downes have had to move on, but it is of their own doing. We move on and already look a more promising side without them

Or that the whole sh*tshow that was us under Lambert has soured his feelings for where we are. I'm not sure why he feels the need to hint at stuff; spit it out or shut up. But there we are, nothing to do with me and who am I to know what he's been through.
