I'm not sure that's what's being seen as the issue - presumably the perverting the course of justice charge relates to him allegedly faking texts and using them as evidence in the case?
To throw in a bit of whataboutery, it's a shame for him he's not a minister or he could have used the lost phone defense! |  |

He lied to the OB and that’s the reason for perverting I presume which is a serious charge.
Lesson for us all here, doctor or mechanic or hospital Porter; Don’t talk to the police unless you have a brief present. Don’t talk to them at home or at work or in the street or anything. Avoid them at all costs. |  |

I think that is probably stalking plus some of the messages would be deemed as threatening. I think a restraining order is necessary rather than jail. |  |

The charge was perverting the course of justice, not having a 'lover's tiff'. That's seen as pretty serious in judicial circles, and the fact that he's a doctor won't have helped.

I believe the reason it's a custodial sentence, relates to the fact he was a doctor in a position of responsibility and used faked medical documents to suggest the victims partner had certain medical illnesses/conditions. So while yes it's essentially a unrequited love triangle, it's his serious breach of ethics that is being punished. |  |
