Exceedingly depressing. He's slightly dismissive of the reach if anything. It's not the "far right" (as in some lunatic fringe) that's fueling and exploiting resentment about immigrants. It's been mainstream in government and all over our airwaves for several years, and now has the support of a significant chunk of the population.
Hate crimes for race, disabilities and sexual persuasion are all up significantly. Anti-LGBTQ crime is particularly taking off, although even 'good old-fashioned' racism and xenophobia crimes are up about 70% this year.
We're turning into a horrible, small-minded country full of horrible, small-minded people. There's lots of decent people around still but increasingly you come up against angry utter bellends in daily life. |  |
