but I really quite like our players. I feel an affection for a number of them, more than in previous years. No doubt helped by us being better, especially as this season has progressed, and perhaps also because of one or two extra features and interviews posted through the club's social media giving us an extra insight. Listening to Toto speak on the radio before the game was good, he seems like a proper good guy and one of many. I really hope we can be successful this season.

People like Chambers and Skuse clearly cared about the club and people were well behind them. But they ran their course a few years ahead of when they departed. This never helps with affinity to players. No one really came in in their mold, so difficult to care as much.

If someone like Downers seemed to care about the club as much as Bonne, then I'm sure he'd have more of a cult following.

I think the tempo also helps, even if everyone cared in a previous team, it was hard to get behind when everything seemed so laboured.

But in short, I agree with you. Seems like Ashton's point of recruiting good characters to the first team is translating in that respect.

It really says something when it’s a struggle to pick a current favourite player due to there being 5/6/7 to pick from!

Also for MOTM, there’s always 2/3/4 that seem to stand out

They do seem a decent bunch. I imagine personality/attitude was another key factor in recruitment and retention? Downes, Dozzell etc were talented players but there was clearly an issue with the personal side, and that seems to be the same with Norwood, too.

The way they speak and interact with each other is good to see and even Celina, who I've always thought was a bit of a cold fish (probably wrongly) seems to be getting swept along with it.

Edmundson would make a great presenter/pundit if the coffee club shows are anything to go by.

Yes, it was really strange at first as they were so new they didn't seem like 'our' players. However, I love them all now. Performances obviously help but it's the general good attitude, passion and personality that shines through both on the pitch and in the media as well.

They seem very together and team spirit is good. Noticeable that during the game they are always high fiving, acknowledging and congratulating each other.

I have pride in my club again and it's a good feeling.

They do seem to be an open bunch, willing, nay eager to engage with and do good things for the fans. Part of the recruitment criteria, I would think, and will feed back to positive support and better results on the pitch too. Not sure if anyone has said this before, but what a fantastic job Mark Ashton seems to have done in such a short period of time. Remarkable, Jeff.
