That dreadful Webbe is now trying to claim she is the victim, despite harassing and threatening to throw acid at another woman, at least she's been charged now so can hopefully get kicked out of politics. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-59162007 Why can't we get rid of these people from power.......

Here's hoping. It just depresses me. I know the old adage "power corrupts" but it starting to seem like it's endless, normal people get a chance to do good for the majority and what do they end up doing.....abusing their position and treating everyone else like crap whilst filling their pockets at our expense. I looked through the news and there isn't one country in the world, that isn't currently mired in accusations of corruption or abuse. Theses are the world's leaders, who we all choose. Is it something wrong with humans? 9r just the fact that we should never give power to someone who wants it?

The recall petition can't be launched as she's already said she'll be appealing against the conviction. And with the backlog in the courts and the leisurely break the judiciary apparently need over Christmas, that's going to take a long time Then there'll have to be almost 8,000 people Leicester East who feel strongly enough about it to support her recall. Just précising the details from the BBC website, so don't shoot the messenger. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-59162007

Wasn't that what they were arguing about Paterson. That he isn't allowed to appeal against the decision against him, yet people are allowed to appeal against conviction for crimes and employment dismissal?

'The dreadful Web was expelled from the Labour party on receiving her sentence yesterday and has been suspended since being charged. Paterson is stil a member of the Conservative party and his fellow MP's, not 24 hours ago, voted tp change the rules to try and save him. But hey, fine people on both sides and all that.

They also readmitted someone recently who got suspended for sexual harassment. As for this case, what an absolutely bizarre set of events. He could have easily just sat out the suspension and everyone would have probably forgotten about the whole thing.

I'm not sure what you're trying to insinuate there. He was accused of of breaking parliamentary rules. She was convicted of an abusive hate crime. The two whilst both being wrong, are not equal, so having a different response to each isn't uncommon or out of the ordinary. Are you trying to imply that Tories cover for their mates, and Labour don't defend their own or that one political party is more honest and responsible than the other?

It's funny how the established procedure wasn't a problem for the tories until it's applied to one of their own...... Broadly speaking, judgements should carry a right of appeal (natural justice etc) However, there currently isn't one. If there is an appeals process subsequently established, then it should be applied retrospectively. Again, natural justice and all that.

The ruling states a conviction and all appeals exhausted. So unless her appeal is not granted, she can continue to stand until her appeals are heard and only after can a recall be triggered. So one would assume a suspended sentence is still a conviction as if they commit a further crime the sentance would be applied? I admit I don't fully understand the criminal conviction process sometimes. "If they are convicted in the UK of an offence and sentenced or ordered to be imprisoned or detained and all appeals have been exhausted (and the sentence does not lead to automatic disqualification from being an MP);" https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn05089/
