Experiences of Covid rules abroad 07:54 - Nov 22 with 1490 viewsFixed_It

Just been to Switzerland. Everyone has to wear masks on public transport and inside shops/public buildings. It is mandatory, and fully complied with. Public transport is commonly used in Zurich.
To eat in a restaurant you have to have proof of vaccination in order to sit down. I assume the same applies to bars.
All seems eminently sensible, and not a big deal at all.
How are things in other countries? I guess not having leaders who give out mixed messages helps?

Panama - Thousand dollar fine possible for not wearing a mask, armed police roadblocks to check that you are entitled to move between different tiers, lockdowns off and on over the Christmas and New Year holiday weekends and when the lockdowns were on men and women has separate days on which they could go out (I got refused entry to a supermarket for being the wrong sex, really must sharpen up on my cross-dressing...)

Madeira,
Masks mandatory inside & out, having to show proof of vaccinations to enter supermarkets, restaurants etc, from next Saturday, also proof of a negative lateral flow test for restaurants & bars.
Anti Vaxers are kicking off……..to be expected!
My neighbour works in security & is doing a 7 day week as many of his colleagues cannot work due to not being vaccinated, big queues at vaccination centres now, so the last few can get done quickly.
Starting to take this latest surge seriously now.

Varies by county here in Wisconsin. Dane County - which is seen as a liberal hotbed - mask mandate still in place (shops, schools, transport, etc ) but is rumored to be set to expiring in December. The rest of the state, more blue collar and rural got rid of their mask mandates months ago. Quiz question - guess which parts of the state have higher covid rates? Correct.

The wife went to see Fiddler on the Roof at the weekend - had to show proof of vaccination to get in and wear a mask. I was in a bar Friday night; you have to wear a mask upon entering but if you’re sitting at the bar or table you don’t have to wear mask, but do if you’re going to toilet.

In Italy you had to wear a mask on train and they even came round and bought a mini health back with a free mask in. Had to show vaccine pass in a pub.

San Marino didn't seem to care as much.

Hmmm, San Marino ninth highest cases per million in the World (166,148) at the moment and Italy, which had such a shocking start to the pandemic, seventy fifth (more than half of San Marino's rate - 81,634.)

went to Disnelyland paris a few weeks ago. Had to have masks on the whole time unless eating/drinking.

It was absolutely packed and if I was going to catch covid it would have been from there. Test at home came back negative. So anyone who says Masks don't work, need to sort themselves out haha

Isn't this sort of the use of data that leads to the observation that the Vatican City has more than one Pope per square mile?

This sort of data is a bit misleading when applied to small populations.

In France it has been compulsory to show the pass sanitaire (proof of double jab) to get into all bars, restaurants, nightclubs (and other entertainment areas with more than 50 people).

The youngsters weren't bothered with the vaccine, until they realised that they couldn't properly go out and socialise, so there was a rapid take up mid - late Summer amongst the teens / early 20 year olds.

Masks are still warn indoors in supermarkets etc and often out in the street. I was shocked going back to Ipswich a couple of times recently how few people wear masks.

Maybe, but when you think of San Marino as a hill with some buildings on it then you would have thought that they could have kept Covid-19 free with a bit of effort.

Did the Pope from Avignon ever visit the Pope in Rome? There might not just have been more than one Pope in Vatican City bit more than one Pope at the urinals (providing that the bears were not taking time off from the woods to come in for indoor ablutions...)

The way to understand this apparent conundrum is to realise that the area of the Vatican City is just under 0.2 square miles. So there are in fact 5.9 Popes per square mile in the Vatican City.

And they're all criminals in the Vatican: nearly one crime per resident.
