I fully understand why youngsters choose to go to bigger clubs -better coaching, better facilities, better money etc.
Joe, do you know if there was any hesitation on his part before leaving us? Or was he intent on leaving full-stop?
On a childish level, I will find it very funny if, when he’s older, he decides to leave Arsenal on a Bosman in order to go to a bigger club. All those Arsenal fans crying foul about it - will make me laugh. |  | | |

I don't, I think we had him here for loner than was expected at the end - similar to Ben Knight where a huge effort was made to keep him and club couldn't have done any more.
But when literally every big club in Europe want you then players will invariably go - they can just throw so much prestige at players and et families up for life, plus give the youngster a far greater chance of making it | |

I'd hope not - geographically we have a vast patch so shouldn't need to - and also it's an important community programme for the boys of Suffolk
Those that do tend to have big hitters quite literlaly on their doorstep | |

The money thrown at Knight was bonkers really, but if he 'makes it' then it's peanuts, and even if he doesn't they'll get some return. Man City have sold £150m worth of Academy players over the past 5 years, mostly players that we won't ever have heard about. It's a nice revenue stream.
From a players' perspective it's very difficult to turn down. Knight is a very down to Earth lad and so are his family, it was very much a decision that was based on more than money too. I hope he reaches his potential. |  |

Knight is actually the sort of player it wouldn't surprise me if we ended up trying to sign now we are building up a recruitment team. He will leave City within the next couple of seasons and likely end up in the Championship/L1 depending how his next couple of loan spells go. |  | | |

There were a small group in SBRL singing ‘greedy bastà rd’ to him on Sunday when he was warming up, thought that was a bit harsh. Then they clapped when he came on.  |  |
