Brentwood have always been a football school. Their Old Boys play in the Arthurian League, the old boys league for public schools.
A lot of the really old and very posh public schools traditionally played football, sometimes their own version, and not rugby, which they regarded as a bit nouveau, a game for grammar schools and converted grammar schools.

Looks not from the read, but one of my friends said he went to Brentwood school, along with the Lee brothers, but must have been the state school, with the Lee brothers going the private school.
It is certainly one of the sporting requirements for scholarship; along with other sports that you mentioned. | | | |
