Parking programme on 5.. 19:42 - Dec 9 with 867 views | bazza | Surely you could make the maximum fine the total cost of what the space would have accumulated in the time you were in the space..? 10 minutes over and £150 fine.. horse sh1t.!!

Nice one , is that where Costa pc world is? !! ..It’s saying the parking firms regulate themselves.. it’s ridiculous, maybe 3 strikes or something, I know people will try take advantage parking all day etc if no deterrent but some serious money being scammed out of People here..
Parking programme on 5.. on 21:57 - Dec 9 with 689 views | jeera | Charge or fine? Important to distinguish between the two isn't is as only one is enforceable by law and the other is a civil matter? £150 is extortion and it makes no sense these fees aren't regulated more closely. A tenner would suffice on top of whatever is owed.

Not sure if it mentioned the difference between the two to be honest, and I never knew that , I think most people probably dont either, it preys on the vulnerable..apparently 1/3 of all the fines/charges are paid straight away, I agree £10 extra probably makes people get back in time still, and is a fair enough amount if you were well in excess and still covers what the parking bay would have made in that time..

Charge = Private firms. Fine = Councils, law-enforcement. So traffic wardens etc. Although it will state it on the ticket you are right that a lot of people don't realise the difference. It is a corrupt game, absolutely agree.

All I did was email them advising their charge was not enforceable and not to write to me again, I copied in Currys, B&M and Pizza Hut and said that family Lucan would not be entering their premises again until Euro Car Parks drop the charge. All three chains responded to my email and advised me to send any form of purchasing proof to Euro Car parks, which I did and they immediately cancelled the charge. ........and to be fair to Euro Car Parks they were keen to point out that the reason for their existence is the amount of people who parked in the retail park and didn't use it but maybe toddled off somewhere else.

I think a lot of it depends on their view of how seriously you will approach it. I've had a couple of parking charges from private companies that I've disputed. The appeals to the in-house appeals service fell on deaf ears, and they started with the whole 'you'd better pay or we'll take you to court' schtick. I told them that I welcomed their decision, and would gladly present my evidence/mitigation before a judge, and that they wouldn't be getting a penny from me unless I was told to pay by the Courts. Although I got the usual flurry of threatening letters, and one or two with 'SUMMONS' in big bold letters, and 'notice of intention to instruct solicitors to issue County Court' in extremely small letters, nothing ever happened. Most of these companies are just bullies, and will only properly go after those who attempt the 'ignore them' approach, or can be easily intimidated into stumping up.

It’s an absolute racket. I had an appeal against a ‘bus gate’ contravention in Bristol upheld this week. The wording of the letter: I note your comments however consider that this PCN was issued correctly as your vehicle was observed travelling through a clear and adequately marked bus gate which enters the bus lane at the above location. The bus gate/lane in question is in operation 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Whilst the contravention had occurred, after further consideration, the Council is exercising its discretion and on this occasion only withdrawing this PCN. This site apparently raised 80k tickets in a month when is was first installed. They only need a fraction of those to pay up without question and they’re raking it in. This was the Council though and not one of the highway robbing private firms. Some parking spaces earn more than the minimum wage per hour. That’s quite an indictment of the state of this county. Parking programme on 5.. on 10:04 - Dec 10 with 468 views | Plums | I had a £25 fine for a 5 minute overstay in a £1 for the evening space. I filed a couple of FOI requests knowing full well they would cost the authority far more than my fine. I also kept two dozen Pay and Display tickets in my glovebox and whenever I parked in that authority again would spread them across the dash with the valid one amongst them. Clearly on display but took effort to find. Petty? Absolutely. But made me feel better.

Parking programme on 5.. on 10:17 - Dec 10 with 455 views | Pinewoodblue | The maximum penalty should be £20 plus whatever revenue would have been made if the parking space was occupied all day. Heard recently that some of these cowboy companies actually pay the car park owner to let them fleece their customers.
