Barry is certainly thought of *very* highly at Chelsea and has had various offers at c. League 1 level already.

Barry also has more re-world experience at this level (with Cook...), and as a players.

Whether either of those points means he's the better coach, who knows.

Barry all day long for me but can’t see us convincing him to come here. Apparently he’s an exceptional coach and would certainly get our players drilled and playing as a unit.

I actually think we'd be a perfect Club for someone of his quality to start out in management.

Yeah, I think we would, and I think he’d be successful. We no longer need a manager in the mould of MM who handles absolutely everything at club level, we need someone who will get us organised, playing the right way and get some grit and confidence into the players, something that I think Barry could do. He also has decent connections for any young loans etc. and I’m sure he’s learning a lot from Tuchel and would be able to pick his brain when needed.

He would also, you would hope, be an appointment which excites and gets given time and space.
I would be keen on Barry he has a great reputation at the very top of the game.

The only Muff in Town.

Barry's come from nowhere in the betting, which I appreciate only means that a number of people (possibly a small number) consider him to be worth a bet.

It may be that they know that he's applied or is being interviewed. He may not be at all interested of course, but given that he has no obvious Ashton or Ipswich connection, it's interesting that his name has risen up the betting so suddenly.

I would be very much in favour of an appointment of this kind.

Peter Reid rendomly tweeted about him the other day, probably come from that.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

Think I read somewhere he was interviewed but decided to stay at Chelsea so obviously open to a managerial appointment but looks like he’s waiting for the right one.

Hard to see how staying at Chelsea ever gets him a better job offer than this one?
Unless you've had an elite playing career you just aren't going to get a team in the top 2 divisions to take a punt on someone without first team manager experience.

Yeah absolutely, I suppose it just depends whether he feels ready for it or if he’s rather have another season or two working with Tuchel before taking the jump into management. And to be fair we’ve got absolutely no idea if he’s even under consideration.

Anthony Barry has come out of nowhere and is now 2/1 on Betvictor - people with inside info lumping on him becoming a manager? Either that or some idiots putting money on him after a Twitter rumour.

Would be interesting to see who he would have as part of his coaching staff.
