Interesting that there is such a strong benefit on that age group compared with over70s. I thought the curve would just carry on up as you got to the more vulnerable age groups. Maybe past a certain age you are just more likely to need care regardless?

That’s possible. Also I believe the much older age groups are being more cautious and not mixing as much. Omicron especially is circulating through younger people and they were expecting a slower spread through the more elderly.

Quite possibly the over-70s are more likely to be triple-jabbed, also, with that campaign starting earlier and perhaps being taken more seriously by health-conscious older people.

Under 50 age groups not showing much difference. 2 plus Booster halves risk for 50-59 group, versus just 2 vaccines. Reduces to a third the risk for 70+ group who have 2 plus Booster versus just 2 vaccines. This is risk of very severe Covid Symptoms requiring hospital intervention, and the graph shows the relative chances of requiring this of the unvaccinated, double vaccinated, and double vaccinated plus booster groups in each age cohort. But the big news is the difference between unvaccinated and vaccinated plus booster in different age groups.
