The lack of 'free hit mentality' about this team and manager. 23:11 - Feb 8 with 1170 viewsBlueBadger

Is refreshing isn't?

I'm certainly not at all convinced that we'll make top six, but it's nice to see us having a proper tilt at it regardless. If nothing else, it's bedding in good habits for 22/23 rather than aimlessly drifting towards yet another wasted season.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I was just thinking actually, we've seen a manager come in and take on a group of players that, with the exception of Thompson, aren't his players. Yes, it is a talented squad but he's come in and hit the ground running, seems to have got them all on board (even though some only came for Cook at the time) and we are effectively winning football matches.

Refreshing as you say.

I think its obvious the players know this is a guy they can actually develop under and better themselves as footballers, despite some on here claiming he would have no respect because Morsy played for Egypt hahah.

Under Ashton, regardless of who comes in, they'll NEVER be 'his' players....

What’s also clear is that KMac is a very smart thoughtful football manager. All his pre and post match comments indicate he’s a deep thinker and not just randomly chucking a side together.

In stark contrast to the scouse lads drinking club we had before him.

I don't think the ownership group would allow a free hit and a season drifting away whilst its still possible.

Say what you want about Johnson and Co, but the most palpable thing they've brought back to the club?

A winning mentality, for years throughout the club under Evans, the attitude seems to have been, "we're only Ipswich and we've had our glories, we're just happy to be here"

I think you’re confusing a “free hit” with a “free pass”.

A “free hit” is having a proper tilt but without fear or undue pressure because it couldn’t legitimately be seen as an expectation. As well as building the team for next season on the plus side.

Pronouns: He/Him
