EDF not working either. It's like they are doing it on purpose.

I think(?) the only legit way around this if someone's bills have been based on estimates for a while and the estimates have been too high. I'm presuming in such a case people will have been overpaying and effectively building up credit under the older lower rate. You wouldn't want to submit a reading today in this case. Someone doing that hasn't falsely declared anything, so presumably would be fine.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Same with Shell (that I was allocated after Green went bust). In theory you can phone it in, but I'm guessing the lines are jammed. Worth keeping trying up to midnight tho. Wonder what the betting is that all the websites ''technical" problems will magically disappear at 00.01? 🤔

I'll be taking photos of the readings (day & night) & emailing those in if I can't get through via their website or phone.

Same with a few other suppliers too -

SSE is the same...

"We're experiencing high volumes of traffic"

Then in a much smaller font size...

"You can still give us a meter reading but you won't be able to log into your account"

Then the options to send meter reading or go back to home page are there.

So basically if you don't have a letter from SSE with your account number on it, have not written it down or don't remember it then your balls have most certainly been grabbed.

The cons of the digital world eh!!

You/they should be able to do it without an account number, as your/their meter should have a unique MPAN number stamped on it, which doesn't change even if your supplier does.

Supplying that + name, address & email should be more than enough to ID the individual account.

On Shell website just now I was able to open a 'submit meter reading' page, which basically asked for email, name, address, what is your query? -> submit a reading->gas/elec/both: then got 2 boxes to fill, one for day & one for night rate. Then a big box for 'how can we help?' (could be used for additional commments) and another optional one for attachments, which could be used for photos. Followed by 'SUBMIT' (which I've not clicked yet - leaving my reading until dusk).
