Not a huge surprise given the turnover of players

That is a sobering way of looking at it. Are any agents decent? I mean, transfers would still happen without them.

21 players in across that period. It’s circa £36,000 per agent. Some will have received much larger, some lesser.

Won’t be near that figure you’d imagine next season after a slower transfer window.

Do clubs ever pay agents to offload players?

No, not really. It’s going to be the buying side.

As posted above, spread over 21 signings it doesn't sound as bad.

It's a Modern Day Football curse. Many players at Conference South/ North level have an agent. £300/ week players.

Every professional footballer has an agent even if it’s a family member.

That amount is nothing in the scheme of things and certainly doesn’t indicate the club being agent led!

Huge amount of money leaving the game. Still not sure what clubs are paying for. If player X wants a new contract or a transfer why aren’t they paying for their agent services?

Quite.

Only 5 Championship clubs paid less than us. Given how many players we bought and that we are top end of League One it’s about right.

19 Championship clubs spent more. £10m by Fulham. £4m by West Brom. £3m by Bournemouth.

£700k across 19 players seems reasonable in the climate even though I find it offensive that agents even need to exist because it’s a massive conflict of interest when what’s best for the player may be far worse a position for the agent financially.

No doubt some will defend them. They’ve probably got their place, but at the very least I think they should be tightly regulated. But that’s hard to do when football has sacrificed its morals on the alter of profit in all other areas of the game.

Some are a danger to their clients. I get the feeling Simpson is being very badly advised, for example.

Only 1 player in the first team squad is represented by RPM - Scott Barrons company.

Luke Woolfenden.

Mark Ashton hasn’t signed any player represented by RPM.

Sometimes….mutual termination is a good example where an agent might get a slice to help chivvy either party to compromise.

There are agents at step 5 and 6 level. Honestly it got embarrassing. Talking to players who were getting 50-100 a week and having agents. Wtf.

a niche perspective

Mutual termination is probably the only circumstance when a player leaves an agent may receive a fee. They are often minimal fees, and aren’t that common during a contract period.

We had one this year (Jon Nolan), but it wasn’t likely to be an expensive contract to terminate at all.

We signed more players than anyone else in league one so it was obvious we'd spend more on agencts than others.

It really isn't that big of a figure when consider the amount and calibre of player we bought.
