Derby/ Rooney 22:15 - Apr 15 with 1462 viewsgtsb1966

If the don't get a points deduction they are going to take some stopping next season. Love him or loathe him Rooney is doing a good job. Let us hope they get that deduction.

Rooney will be leaving and so will a lot of the players.

Im actually more concerned by barnsley and Peterboro, but we shouldnt overly worry about anyone if we are serious about promotion

They have 5 players under contract for next season and Rooney will likely get a Prem/top end Championship job.

Don't know much about the potential new owner.

Definitely a potential threat.

Could be a very interesting league if there's Ipswich, Sheff Wed, Derby and Sunderland all in league one.

Truly impaired.

His interview earlier suggests otherwise.

Whilst it’s mathematically possible for them to stay up I don’t think he’ll admit to it but I’m sure once the season is over he’ll be off.

Sunderland, Rotherham, Peterborough, Oxford, Wycombe, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Charlton and Bolton will all be expecting promotion too. And then there's the likes of Exeter, Morecambe, Cambridge, Lincoln, Accrington and co for us to have to beat as well.

There is one team we really need to worry about and we need to make sure they are the team that everyone else has the most trouble with. It is Ipswich! We need to stop worrying about the big names (and smaller ones) and worry about ourselves. If we are genuinely better than 22 other teams in this division (and preferably 23 of them) then we will get promoted. Then we need to worry about becoming better than teams in the Championship too.

At the moment they'll just have kids next season and Rooney will know they won't be enough.

I can see one of the relegated Prem clubs offering him a job Burnley/Watford or Everton

Shows what an embarrassing effort we made of staying in the Championship, when a club like Derby can have a 20 point deduction and still match our abysmal points total.

I can see Rooney staying to see if he can get them back up next season. He’s done a very good job getting them so close to surviving, under difficult circumstances. Feel he has some unfinished business at Pride Park.

Even with the points deduction, they “could” still threaten the POs.

He comes across very well in his interviews much to my surprise. Looks to be a decent manager in the making and prepared to work his way up. Credit to him.

Not a pop at you gtsb but.

We need to be able to compete with all of these teams if we are going to go up and we shouldn't be relying on things like points deductions to stay above any of them.

We need to compete with and take points out of the likes of Derby, Barnsley, Portsmouth et al.

If we can't do that or believe we can do that, then we may as well get used to League one.
