Quite.

The government know that the english are too disengaged to care and that they'll get away with it.

Good on her for speaking out.

Bit of genius that. People still complain BBC is metropolitan liberal lefty elite, whilst the Tory government manage to an ex-Tory comms director to monitor impartiality.

Sometimes the Tories are incompetent, other times less so…

Hardly "genius".

The tories put it about that the BBC is lefty etc; People too lazy to know, too disengaged to care or just too thick take it as the truth.

They've been doing it for 50 years.

The tories have always exploited the "people" when they can.

People see what they want to see, every time, all the time.

Two of my neighbours the other day discussing food banks:

"Bloody food banks. I saw one bird at one on the TV, about a size 18, like she's starving".

"Yes I know, it's a load of nonsense isn't it".

Just nasty for the sake of nasty.

I am not sure anyone thinks they are incompetent. They are very good at doing what they do. Which is why they have got away with so much corruption for so long.

I still wouldn't be confident they will not be re-elected off the back of a "watch out for that lot" campaign.

Poisoned by decades of non-dom right wing press barons telling them their problems are caused by ‘those people over there’

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

It's hard when it's people you live alongside.

I wanted to say more but had to walk away from them saying instead that "I'll leave you two to your Daily Express chatter".

Dunno why they feel the need, it wasn't even where the conversion had started but one of them found a way to take it there.

There's always something, always someone to scorn.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62662212 BBC report doesn’t capture everything the Guardian does. I wonder why.

They don't try to hide it anymore, which is part of the game - they do this stuff then laugh about it internally - who can be the most blatant?

"We're going to appoint Conservatives to these "independent" positions; what you going to do about it?" No pretense to care about the norms & pillars of democracies.

Indeed.

Although it’s clearly not just Gibb as the BBC’s UK political coverage and editorialising has been pretty awful for years.

On a related note, still waiting for the BBC, Panorama or Ofcom to comment on the John Ware “exposé” of Labour antisemitism that was described in the Forde report as “wholly misleading”. Thousands complained at the time but were told that standards had been met ...

She is a serious person. Glad she has spoken out. I doubt if it will do any good at all with this bunch of crooks though.
Another reason why we simply have to get rid of them. The Tories need to go away and sort themselves out. I still think most Tory voters don't really want their party to be run by a corrupt bunch of crooks, they just don't realise, or don't care enough to do anything about so long as they win.

It's shocking really. It's Stalinist control of the media.
