If luck evens itself out…. 07:08 - Aug 28 with 993 viewsITFC_Forever

….we’ve got a couple of massive ones coming our way at some point after the non-penalty at Shrewsbury and Harness’ disallowed goal yesterday.

No luck about yesterday, just outrageous officiating. See what that's costs us at the end of the season .

If we keep playing well, then it shouldn't cost us anything. If we let it get to us, it might.

Exactly. I tend to think that "things" even themselves out over the course of the season rather than "luck" - we should have beaten Bolton and Barnsley, but were lucky to beat Burton while FGR could easily have stolen a draw at the death, so we're probably about even so far.

If we keep doing what we're doing we'll be fine.

I was quite surprised by KMs reaction yesterday. Not saying its a negative. Just quite surprised he let it get to him in such a way it probably will lead to a fine and an FA hearing.

He's usually quite calm and this seems to be reflected from the team.. I hope we don't spend the week thinking about the ref. Its done. Gone and we move on.

I'm not sure he will get fined. What he said was fairly strong, particularly for him, but he did make quite an effort to point out that he felt it was a mistake rather than malicious intent. Like you though, I was still pleasantly surprised by his reaction - we haven't really seen that side of him before and he was still keen to own the mistakes we did make.

Maintaining sustained good performances reduces the element of chance (including variable referee quality). Getting goals like we have been, the opposition need to score to stand a chance of registering even a draw.

That kind of positive morale and confidence should be guarded at all costs, being the key to playing in a free-flowing, front-foot style. It also has an effect upon the opposition, a pre-registered fear of what we can do, the capabilities of our team. Seeing ITFC bounce onto the pitch, full of vim and vigour will have the other team thinking they're in for a tough time.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Outrageous officiating. Yeah, no less than our defending though.

Think we had our fair share of luck in the Burton game

On our drive home I said that I hoped the KM would say something about the referee, because it needed to be said.
It is not correct that the referee can be allowed to have more impact on the outcome of the match than any of the players on the pitch.
We pay good money and travel long distances to watch our team play and all we ask is that the referees are fair and consistent. Stephen Martin was neither.
