Chris Kiwomya’s debut 19:42 - Aug 28 with 1392 viewsITFCTweedy

Hi all, does anybody know anything about Kiwmoyas debut in 1988 against Bradford? E.g his shirt number and whether he was wearing a long sleeve or short sleeve shirt.
Thanks

He came on as a sub so either 12 or 14.

No, but he came on as a sub for Neil Woods

I thought he only wore long sleeves. Anyway, I was at the 4-0 and 1-1 home games and remember doing the radio earhole bit for the 3-2 away win, but Kimomya’s debut? No idea.

Cracking player though. I thought he was top drawer for us.

He wore number 14, and came on in the 62nd minute for the perennially unfortunate Neil Woods, who himself had come off the bench only six minutes earlier. It was the first time a substitute had been substituted in an Ipswich Town game. He then played a little part in Dalian Atkinson's 90th-minute equaliser.

I imagine he wore a long-sleeve shirt because, well, he always did, didn't he?

I spent that Saturday playing with my mate, Shaun and I remember asking whether we could see the full time scores come in. We watched from about 4:25 onwards and Grandstand had a latest scores board up showing that we were trailing them. The result never came up on the teleprinter and I was sitting in suspense when they went to the classified check with Len Martin. Through the First Division results and then up came the Second Division results showing a final score of 1-1 and an intense feeling of relief that we hadn’t lost in front of my Man Utd supporting friend.

From Ipswich Town: The Modern Era by Rod Hadgraft
24/9/88 1-1 Ipswich: Forrest, Yallop, Hill, Stockwell, Humes (Woods)(Kiwomya), Harbey, Lowe, Dozzell, D’Avray, Atkinson, Wark Scorer - Atkinson 90

Bradford: Tomlinson, Mitchell, Jackson, Banks, Oliver, Evans D, Thomas, Sinnott, Ormondroyd, Abbott, Leonard, Palin Scorer - Mitchell 51

Att: 13,074

Abbot’s cross is converted by Mitchell. Humes goes off with a damaged knee and then sub Woods picks up a serious ankle injury just six minutes after coming on. Teenager Chris Kiwomya makes his debut. Atkinson flicks the equaliser home after four minutes of injury time.

Harbey from Derby - oh dear he didn't last long with us. D'Arcy was very average too. As for Dalian - I used to pray that he would be playing - such an exciting young striker. Its about time we developed another like him.
