Be interesting to know what percentage of the crowd would be travelling by rail anyway. More disruption of plans for those that had perhaps booked hotels etc for the weekend in Brighton.

"But it simply was not possible to play the match with a full capacity crowd in attendance."

Since when has that been a requirement as to whether a match gets played or not due to outside influences such as weather etc?

Never been to the Brighton stadium but can't lots of fans only get there by train cos of where it's situated, so probably it's a bit more of a special case to avoid travel chaos at a derby game.

Perhaps it's a poorly-worded statement?

I'm reading it that they're expecting a sell-out and that, based on that number of fans attending, the rail strike will cause far more significant levels of disruption than usual.

I'm not necessarily sure he means that the strike would impede their ability to sell-out the stadium.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Almost like they don’t want the game played on a Saturday at 3pm!

They managed to have a game at home with train strikes last month.

yes but Palace & Brighton fans dont exactly get along, and frequently clash, so becomes a crowd safety issue if youve got a sell out crowd.

Agreed. Would be handy to have a free weekend ahead of the International break for a new manager to bed in.

Also I think match tickets include free local train travel to the ground so possibly another reason to postpone?
