The New York attorney general, Letitia James, just announced a lawsuit against Donald Trump and his family, accusing them of fraudulently inflating their net worth by billions of dollars to get better terms on bank loans and other financial benefits.
“The lawsuit alleges that Donald Trump, with the help of his children Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, and senior executives of the Trump Organization, falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to induce banks to lend money to the Trump Organization on more favourable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company, to satisfy continuing loan covenants, induce insurers to provide insurance coverage for higher limits and lower premiums, and to gain tax benefits, among other things"
The case she is bringing is a civil case which can’t result in a custodial sentence. However she is going to refer it on as she thinks there are federal offenses , which could result in jail for them

In response, Trump accused Carroll of lying, saying she was "not my type". Carroll is suing Trump for defamation. Trump has tried to get the case dismissed."
Unfortunately his mate Putin no longer looks to be a safe place to skip off to. He did seem to find common purpose with Kim Jong Un, so maybe he'll do a runner fairly soon.

The danger is that if found guilty , and imprisoned , there will be serious civil unrest as there are millions who actually believe his lies, and many are prepared to use violence to defend him.
