Thought McKenna’s comments on Cowley 19:51 - Oct 1 with 2535 viewsdavblue

Were really telling and probably about time we had someone come out and defend the club somewhat that the narrative is we should steam roller everyone because we’ve spent some cash.

Comes across that McKenna’s not a fan of Cowley.

I suspect the net spends are very similar, I don’t doubt we spend more on wages but they won’t be poor payers in this league and they spent a few years ago 2 million on Marquis.

Nah, we’re all of to the EADT. Not enough stock pictures of fire engines in that piece

Sorry Phil, I had read the report on Twitter.

Thought that was superb from KMac, clearly annoyed by Cowley’s comments and had the stats to back it up on relative merits of the squad.

Wow. McKenna has really responded to Cowley very well there.

“I think we have no right to dominate the first half as much as we did today. I think Portsmouth have an outstanding team full of Championship players. If you want to count the Championship appearances and the international caps between the two teams then you would find an interesting match-up.

“One of the only players they have who doesn’t have Championship experience is one of the best young strikers in world football, in my opinion, in Dane Scarlett."

People outside of the club don't appreciate how decrepit and rudderless we were at the end of the Evans regime. Blackpool and Charlton had more combustible fall outs with their owners, while ours was a slow and steady decline. Nobody else really noticed because Mick held things together for a time.

There was a big hole there that needed filling. The money we have spent has been serious, but we haven't been particularly reckless since the demolition man departed. It seems like we're just ticking things off day by day.

No problem, thought I'd provide an easy link to what KMc had to say.

I like the way he speaks. I don’t think there’s much beef there, McK is just rightly focussed on what he/we need to do and isn’t going to be distracted. Danny Cowley was ok as well in fairness. Nice to highlight the positives of having a packed out ground in L1.

I think he’s quite right to call out Cowley. It’s about time. It’s the third time Cowley has come out with this underdog rubbish on us and it’s like him - tedious. He does the find an angle with other clubs too.Moans about everything.

I got the feeling KMs message was very towards his own players. Work hard and ignore the Cowleys of this world.

I’ve no idea what Portsmouth have spent and don’t care, but I doubt it’s in the same bracket as FGR, Burton and Shrewsbury.

I was expecting Cowley to be a bit more fractious in his comments but I thought his comments were quite good/fair for an opposition manager.

Cowley was careful not to have a pop in his post match interview. I reckon he still has half an eye on the Town gig at some time in the future.
