Bolton away - fan experience 10:12 - Nov 7 with 1067 viewsnick141

Hello all, we have a friend from Germany who likes to come to an ITFC away day every few years. We want to show him a good time and a proper English fan experience - right now one of the few dates that work is Bolton away in March. I've never been - could you let us know if it's a good day out? I hear it's not in the centre of Bolton which is a shame, but is it decent?

For context, his last game was Sheffield Wednesday away pre-pandemic, but i'm not expecting it to be as good as that. Thanks

It's pretty good to be fair, it is out of town, but there is a large retail park right next door which includes quite a few restaurants - my daughter was very pleased that there was a TGI Fridays (book though). The stadium is very impressive too, not just an identikit bowl

Very accessible with plenty of parking close by. As above, adjacent retail park offers the usual food outlets. It's a big stadium which can have a good atmosphere but at this level will be lucky to be 60% full. Long trip for Town fans but if things go to plan in terms of League positon, I can see a very decent turnout of 2K+. Manchester is 30 mins drive if you want some pre or post match entertainment.

I've been 4 times to Bolton for my sins.

As stated above, its pretty decent. Not the best but by no means the worst. Will be a big game I imagine which will help the atmosphere.

It’s a very impressive ground and not often a happy hunting ground. Getting there can be a dreadful experience too

As it’s effectively a Prem Wannabe match in the third division your German chum might appreciate a visit to one of the more representative grounds of lower league football?
