It was the brainchild of an ex-employee whose name escapes me, but he was the same one who suggested at a board meeting thatthe club should consider changing its name to Ipswich United! Back in the day when John Kerr/Sheepshanks was chairman so a good few years ago. | | | |

It was the Chief Executive's decision. The first CE at the club (appointed by Sheepshanks). Probably the most notable decision that CE made, which is a reflection of how that period was the start of the great decline.
I can't recall his name, but he was before Clegg and Bowden.
20 or so years on, it finally seems as though we have a CE who has the ability to improve things and see the bigger picture. [Post edited 22 Dec 2022 8:39]

It made sense to switch to red as we had been using red trim in the kit since 1984, on and off and to various extents. Looking back, the yellow badge seems to clash badly with those kits. |  | | |
