I tell you what, that 2nd goal v Derby 23:52 - Apr 2 with 1837 viewsTalkingBlues

isn’t far off the first you know, more direct, but another lightning quick, length of the pitch counter attack, shame Burns didn’t score it really, deserved a goal that game.

We really are a mentally good attacking outfit for this league.

Had a similar feel to the Hurst goal at Bolton, albeit Burns shot this time

The lack of Derby players in the background after the rebound was quite staggering, they're not a young team though are they

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Hirsts finish shouldn't be underestimated on that one. He made that look very easy..Quick look and smashed top corner on the turn....
Not gonna lie, wasn't sure what all the fuss was about with Hirst, after his first few games. Even though I appreciated his workrate..But the boy can finish. His 3 in 3 have all been clinical.
Still hearing oppo fans (haters), saying KM got no plan B.
But we're scoring all kinds of goals lately. Probably taken the likes of Bolton and Derby by surprise a bit. In conceding possession and being clinical on the break.
Feel like we are Rocky Balboa, switching to south paw in the last few rounds, lol...

Hirst is raw but his work rate is good and he's more mobile than Ladapo, there's still a place for Ladapo, he has a few skills where he's better than Hirst currently but I think Hirst has a more natural instinct for getting in the right place at the right time and ultimately has a higher shelf

We are lucky to have both of them and they're different kind of strikers, variety is always useful tactically, if we had these two and a third pacey livewire, we'd have most bases covered

We really need to get up this season, it would be interesting to see what kind of players we'd be looking at in the summer

I suspect a commanding centre back, preferably left sided with some leadership qualities, probably another decent number 10 and a pacey striker. We will try sign Hirst in the summer, no doubt about that but I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Devante Cole as well, that would be interesting

I like the look of the lad who Burton had picked up from the non-league, he looked promising

On a semi-related note, a lot of people under played the MK Dons result at the time but they look to have a decent squad to me, I'm not surprised they caused Wycombe problems with the wingers they have, I wouldn't be surprised to see them cause problems for our rivals, assuming any of them still have to play them. I do think Kaikai is one of those players who could be in a promotion chasing side and potentially able to step up beyond this league.

Fleetwood, Lincoln and Exeter seem the other dark horses who can be stubborn, out of the less fancied sides.

Re MKD...On a similar note I thought Oxfords stubborn result at Posh on Saturday, was an interesting one, too. Manning set them up as "hard to beat". Hope they can pull off something similar at home to SW.....
Next summer window will be interesting, should we go up. Feels like we've punched above our weight a bit with players like Davis, Broadhead Luongo and Clarke incoming.
If we take the same line, but,as a Championship club, then there could be some eye opening signings or loans, imo. And I think that KM is a big part of the appeal.

I need to see him play in the flesh, but from what I’ve seen on the screen, Hirst looks a really good player to me. A real no 9. I bet players marking him know they’ve been in a game.

That was a really good goal on Saturday. You don’t see many people with the presence of mind to do that. Talk about turn and smashing it in. What a run from Burns too. His marker must have been wearing divers boots - talk about being left for dead.

Everything about that second was perfect… apart from Burns shot, weak as piss, that said running the length of pitch I’ll allow him that

We’ll be good again... one day

His work rate is ridiculous. Absolutely relentless in pressing and chasing 'lost causes'.

Haven't seen a striker run like he does anywhere in years .

Nah, first one was perfect. 2nd Wes should have pulled it back for Hirst to tap in and then it would have been perfect. We got a lucky bounce there - it could have gone anywhere after the keeper’s save.

You mention Fleetwood, Lincoln and Exeter, and I just happened to be looking at the 6 game form table.

Now, clearly we're on absolute fire and we can afford to be very confident going into the last 8 games. I expect us to go up in the top two.

However, our run-in has taken on a more difficult looking complexion than how it originally appeared.

We're comfortably top of the 6 game form table, but we play 7 of the 10 teams immediately below us. The only game against a team in the bottom half is Port Vale.

Anyway, maybe the reason they're riding so high is that they haven't played mighty Town for a while :). Not scared of anyone, and if we win the other 7, it won't even matter what we do at Barnsley.

Extraordinarily incorrect, even in clueless footy fans terms innit. As you say, we score all sorts of goals, and we play in different ways. It'll be interesting to see how we do when we're next behind in a game. Hard to tell at the moment seeing as we're on probably one of the best runs of any professional side in Europe.

Can't leave here without a random mention of Chappers' goal yesterday. Ridiculous stuff. Breathtaking footy and what we watch the game for. The fact it came on the crazy good run we find ourselves on makes it all the more sweet.

As long as we can keep our keep players fit, we are good enough to beat anyone in this division. In fact the better the opposing are, the more likely they are to be vulnerable to us at the moment. This sounds a bit over confident, but in particular those results at Derby and Bolton and the way they were achieved are my reasoning.

Yes, it could easily blow up in our faces. That’s sport. But we’ve done spectacularly well to get back in the race and in the manner we have.

I was impressed with him down at PR for Pompey last season, thought he had a good game, held the ball up, occupied our defenders all game. He can do a bit of everything, hold up, in behind and looks a decent finisher as well.

He wasn't match fit when he joined and has taken a while to get going but at this level he's a quality addition.

First time I saw him live, away at Bristol Rovers, a keen observer sitting next to me pointed out Hirst's good positioning and movement (which was largely missed by our supporting players in that game). Now it's come together.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
